Diesel Generators in Jordan
CET is an authorized partner of Generac (USA) and Pramac (Italy). We supply standby and prime diesel generators from 850 VA to 9 MVA, with Perkins, Volvo, MTU, Scania, Baudouin and other engines, and install them with the transfer switch, fuel system and controls your site needs.
A UPS covers the first seconds and minutes of an outage. The generator carries the building for hours or days after that, so we size the two together.

Standby, prime or synchronized
The kVA figure on a datasheet depends on the duty rating. Getting it wrong is the most common specification mistake we see, so we agree the rating before anything else.
| Rating (ISO 8528-1) | How the set runs | Typical sites |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency standby (ESP) | Only when the grid fails, at variable load, for a limited number of hours a year | Banks, offices, hospitals and schools on a stable grid |
| Prime power (PRP) | As the main supply, unlimited hours at variable load, with a 10% overload allowance | Remote sites, farms, quarries, projects waiting for a grid connection |
| Synchronized sets | Two or more sets share one busbar and start or stop as the load changes | Large buildings, factories, sites that need a set in reserve |
A set bought on its standby rating and then run as the main supply wears out early. Tell us how many hours a year it will run and we quote the right rating.
Sizing the set
An undersized generator trips when a lift, chiller or pump motor starts. An oversized one spends its life at 20 or 30% load, and a diesel engine run that lightly collects unburnt fuel and carbon in the exhaust. Engineers call it wet stacking, and it sits behind many of the smoking, underpowered generators we get called to.
We size from the running load, the largest motor start and the harmonic load from UPS systems and drives. Amman sits 800 to 1,000 m above sea level and summers are hot, so we apply the manufacturer’s altitude and temperature derating as well.
Then we design the rest of the chain: the automatic transfer switch, the fuel tank for the runtime you need, the canopy or plant room ventilation, and Deep Sea controllers for starting, protection and paralleling.

Brands we supply and service
We supply Generac and Pramac generator sets, open or sound-attenuated, with Perkins, Volvo, MTU, Scania, Baudouin and other engines depending on the size and the delivery time you need. Our maintenance team also services Cummins, Caterpillar, SDMO, Kohler, Aksa, Emsa and Rehlko units, subject to the model and parts availability. The ranges are listed in the product catalogue.
Four synchronized sets for a royal broadcast
For the 2023 Royal Wedding, the Royal Hashemite Court needed power for the outside broadcast vans at Zahran and Al-Husseiniya palaces. We supplied four synchronized 250 kVA generators, 1 MVA in total, and kept them running for ten days of live coverage.
Paralleled sets like these share the load, and if one set trips the others keep the broadcast on air. We use the same approach for factories and hospitals that need a set in reserve.

From our sites

Questions we get asked
What size generator do I need?
Send us the list of loads, including motors, air conditioning, pumps and any UPS. Motors draw several times their running current when they start, so adding up nameplates is not enough. We size from the running load and the largest start.
Standby or prime rating?
Standby if the set only runs during grid outages. Prime if it is your main supply or runs many hours a year.
Do you install the ATS and cabling?
Yes. We supply and connect the automatic transfer switch, power and control cabling, earthing and the fuel system, then load-test the set before handover.
Can you service a generator you did not supply?
Yes. We service Cummins, Caterpillar, SDMO, Kohler, Aksa, Emsa, Rehlko and other makes, subject to the model and parts availability.
Do you rent generators?
Yes, from 10 kVA upwards, including synchronized sets. See the generator rental page.
Send the load list and we will size the generator
Tell us your loads, how many hours a year the set will run and where the site is. An engineer replies with the rating, enclosure and transfer scheme.
