Isolated Power Supply (IPS)
In an operating theatre, the supply must not fail on a first insulation fault. A standard earthed system trips. A medical IT system does not.
Operating theatres, intensive care units, catheter labs and dialysis rooms are Group 2 medical locations under IEC 60364-7-710. CET supplies and installs isolated power supply systems built around a medical isolation transformer, an insulation monitoring device, an insulation fault location system, and a theatre alarm panel that tells clinical staff the fault exists — without taking the room off supply.
Leakage current is limited, the first fault raises an alarm instead of an outage, and surgery continues while an engineer locates it. We coordinate the IPS panel with the room’s UPS, generator and equipotential bonding, because in a Group 2 room those layers are one system, not four purchases.
